The consequences of congenital CMV infection can vary, from mild symptoms to more serious complications, including neurosensory disorders such as deafness, vision problems, developmental delays, and other disabilities. Therefore, it is important to take preventive measures to prevent CMV infection in pregnant women, but also to prevent infection of the fetus when a pregnant woman is infected.
