The electrodes produce electrical impulses that affect brain activity to treat certain medical conditions. The electrical impulses also can affect cells and chemicals within the brain that cause medical conditions.

The consequences of congenital CMV infection can vary, from mild symptoms to more serious complications, including neurosensory disorders such as deafness, vision problems, developmental delays, and other disabilities. Therefore, it is important to take preventive measures to prevent CMV infection in pregnant women, but also to prevent infection of the fetus when a pregnant woman is infected. Finally, it is important to carry out appropriate medical monitoring in the event of infection of the fetus and of the child born with congenital CMV infection.
